Name: Glycolic Fix Exfoliating Facial Pads (60 pads) by Nip + Fab
Price: Retails at £12.95, purchased instore at
Superdrug during a "better than half off Nip + Fab" offer. Paid £6.47 for a full sized item.
QUICK REVIEW: Good product with a few issues, great product to dip your toe in using AHAs (chemical exfoliant). Must use with sunscreen. Easily found on the high street and online, and Superdrug would have offers on Nip + Fab every few months or so.
Note: contains 2.8% Glycolic Acid

Full Review:
There are sixty textured pads stacked on top of each other, absolutely soaked in product. Sometimes the top layer is a little dry when I haven't been using it for awhile, but just cut another pad from the stack and Bob's your uncle. The pads are soft, and housed in a bulky plastic tub. It's a space concern when travelling due to its size, but if you can make sure it doesn't dry out and stays clean you can pack some pads away while travelling to save space.
Due to its 2.8% glycolic acid content, I bought this to introduce an AHA (a type of gentle chemical exfoliation) into my skincare routine. At 2.8%, it's quite mild but after a week of use I notice that some bumps in my skin are "resurfacing" - pimples deep under my skin are being brought out, albeit very slowly. In addition, my pores are less visible, which is a definite bonus. However, I may think this is too mild for my skin - some bumps on my skin are still a work in progress and it's been weeks, and the bumpiness in some areas are more prominent and taking their bloody time. My skin may be more suited to a higher AHA percentage.
The presence of alcohols isn't a concern as it's in small amounts, and the pads are soaked in glycerin. The pads are not drying at all, in fact the opposite - the glycerin leaves a slightly tacky film on my face that doesn't go away, and while it's not particularly uncomfortable it doesn't sit invisibly on the skin. I don't find it particularly moisturising, just a bit sticky on the skin. I didn't get issues layering a heavy duty moisturiser on top after waiting half an hour to stay overnight (maybe be careful with silicone based products).
I did experience some hyperpigmentation occurring when using this product, and this is probaby due to the raised photosensitivity from the glycolic acid. Regular sunscreen with UVA/UVB protection is a must when using this product regularly, even when its cloudy!
Verdict: Decent baby's first AHA product. The very mild AHA (2.8%) I don't feel is effective enough for my skin, so this is not the right AHA product for me. Must use with sunscreen.
