REVIEW: Simple Kind to Skin Refreshing Facial Wash Gel

Name: Refreshing Facial Wash Gel by Simple

Price: £3.25 for 150ml, but Simple is widely accessible in supermarkets and pharmacies, with regular promotions.

Quick review: A gentle but effective facial cleanser with no sulfates and low foam.
Ingredients List: Aqua, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Propylene Glycol, Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose, Panthenol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Pantolactone, Sodium Hydroxide, Disodium EDTA, Sodium Hydroxymethylglycinate.

Sustainability Notes: Fully recyclable (Tube: PE, Cap: PP).

I bought this specifically for the fact that it didn't contain sulfates - I've been experimenting with using gentler cleansers on my normal-oily skin to see if it makes a difference in cutting down oil. In short, yes. Changing from foaming cleansers with sulfates as the main ingredients to no/low-foam cleansers has made oiliness less of a problem with my skin (as well as cutting out high alcohol containing products on my skin), however sometimes there's a tradeoff in how effective the cleanser can be in removing all the impurities/makeup/sunscreen on your skin.

The packaging is a green see through squeezy tube, and it's perfectly functional. The gel is a clear gel, and when lathered with a little bit of water there's a small amount of foam, but nothing like a proper bubbly foam.

The gel is exactly that- a gel. It's slippery and doesn't tug on the skin, and washes off easily. It's non-irritating on my eyes, but I find that you need a good 50p sized dollop to clean your face. Without foam, you need to massage the gel on your skin to get rid of everything, and the texture makes it an easy task without tugging the skin. I find it quite relaxing and gentle, but for those looking for a quick wash-n-go solution, this is not it.

What's also useful to know is that when used with a konjac sponge, the gel foams up quite nicely and you use far less product each time. It still stays quite gentle on the skin, with added exfoliating effect.

Verdict: A good value, gentle cleanser without sulfates that still effectively cleanses your skin.
